Reply with quote | #21 | Tommy the way I look at it is this; Good old Bobby was at the time in his playing career that at times he was an embarrassment to watch. He made quite a few blunders in his last season and the club decided the best thing was for him to move on. I'm sure he was offered a back room job but he preferred to join is mates at Fulham, Rodney Marsh and George Best. To be honest he enjoyed his last football in the lower division and it was great seeing him in the final against his beloved WHU.
It's a bit like us, when we get older we still think we have something to offer, but we have to accept that a younger up and coming person can, and should step in our shoes. The problem is we find it hard to accept. Whether it means we should accept a lower salary is debatable, but then again if retirement is 55 and your meant to retire then perhaps if the company offers you the chance to stay on for a lessor salary it could be seen as a good gesture to some but to others not so. |

Reply with quote | #22 | Hey, I've trained my successor. I've been planning for my retirement ever since I started work and I'm looking forward to my LAST day in office. I have been the head of my section for over 18 years. What more do I want? The other day, our Senior Executive Director, who is my immediate boss, reminded me that I promised him that I'll stay as long as he is around. Well, he's 3 years my senior and still healthy so he may hold me to my word. So if he asks me to stay, I will continue and leave when he decides to call it a day. I think that's loyalty to you. Don't be loyal to the Company because the top brass don't even know you exist. But always be loyal to your immediate superior if he takes care of you and treats you well. Lucas, you've got a lot to learn. Eat your heart out! |

Small problem........ ask your Company to sack your immediate superior and take his place. Best way to get it? Offer to work at a lower wage. Hahahaha! You'll end up even more loyal but poorer. Heehee! |

Just heard that Tony's pet hate has signed a one year contract with Everton. Shrewd signing by David Moyes, I wonder how much they are paying him, 40k? |
