West Ham defender Calum Davenport stabbed in his home

LONDON — West Ham defender Calum Davenport underwent surgery on Saturday after he was stabbed at his home.

The east London club said in a statement that Davenport and his mother were attacked on Friday night at the player's home in Bedford, roughly 90 kilometres north of London.

The footballer has been stabbed in both legs and is described in a "serious" condition after an attack on him and his mother at their home. The West Ham central defender Calum Davenport required emergency surgery today on his injuries after the knife attack. Doctors described the Bedford-born player's injuries as severe, but it is too early to speculate whether they have curtailed or could damage the 26-year-old's career.

Police are investigating the attack which occurred last night with detectives from Scotland Yard notified of the incident. In addition, West Ham's medical team are liaising with hospital staff over the extent of the wounds.

A statement by West Ham read: "The thoughts of everyone at West Ham are with Calum and his family and, due to the ongoing police investigation, no further information will be released at this time."His mum is recovering while Calum underwent surgery this morning and his injuries were described as serious by doctors.

Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Davenport started seven of West Ham's 38 Premier League matches last season but has yet to play in this campaign.

The Hammers host Davenport's former club, Tottenham, on Sunday in their second game of the season.

Hi Rizal, what's the low-down behind this incident.  I read that someone heard a man shouting "She's the mother of my child".

But this is another addition to our growing injury list.

We still have Behrami and Ashton carry forward injuries from last season and this season has started with :-

LBM, Llunga and now Davenport.  Who's next?

Back to bare bones again.

West Ham's Calum Davenport May Have Leg Amputated After Stabbing Attack

The career of the West Ham man may come to a tragic end following the horrific stabbing attack yesterday…

Doctors are fighting to save the left leg of West Ham defender Calum Davenport after he was stabbed several times by thugs yesterday morning, The 26-year-old Davenport and his mother Kim, 49, were both attacked outside their homes in Springfield Avenue, Bedford at 5am yesterday morning. Calum was stabbed several times in both legs and was rushed to hospital along with his mother.

A main artery in Calum’s left leg was severed, causing him to lose pints of blood, and he was forced to undergo emergency surgery yesterday as doctors battled not only to save his leg but also his life.

There are still fears that Calum may have to have his left leg amputated, with the next 24-48 hours being crucial, while relatives have said the West Ham star “probably will never play football ever again”.
sources have learned that the attackers deliberately targeted Davenport’s legs in an attempt to end his professional career. The motive for the attack is unclear, but it has been suggested that Calum was involved in a family row shortly before the incident and that he had told his sister Cara, 28, who was also at the house at the time of the attack, that he "didn’t like the crowd she was mixing with”.

Reminiscent of a gangster movie, there is currently a police guard outside the private hospital room Calum is being treated in. The ex-Coventry player’s mother is also in a “serious” condition in hospital with stomach wounds.

Two men are currently in police custody connected with the attack. A 19-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, the latter who has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Davenport charged with assault by his own sister, Carla, the girlfriend of the knife-attacker, Worrell Whitehurst!!

So, in this case, blood is definitely not thicker than water.
